What is the Altere System?
The Altere System is a complete strength practice for wellness spaces, combining design-led stone free weights with Slow Strength®, Altere's signature low-stress methodology. It is delivered as one considered studio experience, run by your own certified team and built for a regular timetable at a consistent standard. Altere works with health clubs and movement studios, hotels and members' clubs, and residences and developments, including 180 Health Club, KX and The Sloane Club.
What is included when a studio partners with Altere?
A partnership includes the equipment (Edition 01: Bell and Edition 02: Dumbbell), Atelier-designed storage that reads as studio furniture, and an annual class licence for Slow Strength® with Slow Stretch® available as an add-on. Your own instructors are certified to teach the class through Altere's Instructor Training Programme, and custom marketing collateral can be provided.
What is Slow Strength®?
Slow Strength® is Altere's proprietary methodology, best described as the bridge between Pilates and strength training. It uses controlled, loaded movement synchronised with breath and sound, prioritising good form and time under tension to build strength while cultivating calm. Classes run 40 to 60 minutes for 4 to 12 people at beginner to intermediate level, which suits members who are new to strength or complementing a yoga or Pilates practice. Almost three in four members who try the class come back.
What are Altere weights made from and where?
Altere weights are handmade in small batches in Shropshire, England, from a durable, low-carbon engineered stone over a recycled steel framework. The surface is cool to the touch and smooth as marble, limiting discomfort from sweating and blistering. The Edition 01: Bell comes in 4kg, 8kg and 12kg, the standard finish is Natural Portland Stone with bespoke colour matching to any Pantone® reference, and the lead time is 4 to 6 weeks.
How much does the Altere System cost, and can we lease it?
Pricing is tailored to each venue because it depends on class size, equipment selection and whether you purchase or lease. The For Studios page has a live quote calculator: set your class size, adjust your equipment and choose an upfront purchase or a lease for an instant estimate. The class programming is licensed annually, with equipment and storage handled separately.
