Slow Mornings at The Sloane
The Sloane Club wanted to offer its members an elevated and impactful experience, a wellness moment in keeping with a newly renovated club, without a permanent commitment. Its members' preferences lean toward Pilates, yoga and recovery rather than the gym floor, so the task was to introduce strength gently, as an experience worth waking up for rather than a workout to endure. A residency suited it exactly: considered, temporary and designed around expectations of the member.
Why a residency
A residency is the lightest way for a space to bring Altere to its members. It lets a club offer its base a fresh, considered experience and trial the practice in its own space, among its own members, before any longer commitment. For The Sloane Club, it was a way to test strength as a member offer while keeping every component in the register the club is known for.

The experience
Slow mornings were the intention. In the club's naturally lit space, small groups of six to ten moved through a Slow Strength® class, breath-led, unhurried, more ritual than session, before gathering afterward for breakfast and conversation. The first opened with the club's membership committee, an intimate start; the second welcomed members more broadly. Between the weekends, the equipment stayed on in the club's movement studio, placed for members to find in their own practice, an invitation rather than a class.
The selection
The pieces were the Edition 01: Bell, cast stone in a Natural Portland finish, cool to the touch and closer to sculpture than equipment. They arrived on Altere's mobile residency consoles, the format that lets the system exist anywhere, set up for a weekend and quietly removed after, leaving the room as it was found.

The results
The residency drew a wide range, from those meeting strength training for the first time to members who train regularly, each finding their way into the practice at their own pace. Between the weekends, the equipment stayed on in the movement studio, where members could discover it in their own time.
A residency is often the first way a space meets Altere. To explore one for your members, or the full system, tell us about your space.
